Obasanjo to Unveil Charly Boy's 999 Memoir in Grand Tribute to Justice Oputa

Former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo will officially unveil 999: The Memoir of Charly Boy, the highly anticipated autobiography of legendary entertainer, activist, and television personality Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, at a landmark event honouring the enduring legacy of the late Justice Chukwudifu Oputa.

The public presentation, scheduled for Friday, July 31, 2026, at the Alliance Française de Lagos/Mike Adenuga Centre, Osborne Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, promises to be a remarkable convergence of literature, history, social advocacy, and national reflection.

More than a book launch, the occasion celebrates two remarkable Nigerians whose lives have profoundly shaped the country's social and democratic landscape. While paying tribute to Justice Oputa's lifelong commitment to justice, integrity, and the rule of law, the event also recognises Charly Boy's decades-long career as one of Nigeria's boldest cultural voices and most fearless advocates for social change.

Bearing the evocative tagline, "A Story. A Legacy. A Rebellion in Ink," 999: The Memoir of Charly Boy is an intimate and unflinching account of a life lived without compromise. The memoir traces Charles Oputa's journey from growing up in the home of one of Nigeria's most respected jurists to becoming one of Africa's most unconventional entertainers and outspoken public figures.
