Orientation Camp: NYSC issues guidelines for Prospective corps members

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has issued fresh directives to prospective corps members ahead of the forthcoming orientation camp, advising them to avoid travelling at night and ensure all registration requirements are completed before arriving at camp.

In a statement released on Monday via its official X account, the scheme stressed that safety should be a top priority for all prospective corps members travelling to their designated orientation camps.

The NYSC specifically cautioned candidates against embarking on night journeys, urging them to make travel arrangements that allow them to arrive safely during daylight hours.

The scheme also announced that prospective corps members whose graduation dates on their call-up letters differ from those on their statements of results will not be allowed to register at the orientation camp.

According to the statement, affected candidates are expected to resolve such discrepancies with their Student Affairs Officers (SAOs) before proceeding to camp to avoid being denied registration.

As part of the registration process, the NYSC reminded prospective corps members to print, sign, and submit the required registration form upon arrival at the orientation camp.

The agency further outlined the procedure for correcting dates of birth. Candidates seeking such corrections are required to obtain a 19- or 20-digit WAEC Verification PIN before initiating the process through their NYSC dashboard.

To complete the correction, applicants should open the "Correction of Date of Birth" section on the dashboard, enter the WAEC Verification PIN, select the appropriate WAEC examination type, examination year, and examination number, verify the information, and submit the request for processing.

The NYSC urged all prospective corps members to comply with the guidelines to facilitate a smooth registration exercise and prevent avoidable delays or complications during the orientation programme.
